Although it's some years since Mickey has lived in England, he was born in Essex and gained his qualifications at the City of London Polytechnic. He started his career on the water as a member of the Sea Scouts at Leigh-on-Sea in the early 70s and crewed on a 30ft Contest called 'Serendipity' out of Burnham.
Moving to New York to pursue his career in the financial world, Mickey's professional success was mirrored by the boats he gradually acquired. His first purchase was a Hunter 17ft day boat in 1999, followed by a 44ft Ted Hood Whisperjet in 2004. His latest acquisition is a 152ft Perini Navi Ketch "Antara" which he purchased in 2005 and raced to Ist place in the St Barth's Bucket during 2006. He went on to take third place in the Perini Cup in Sardinia.
Mickey became a US Citizen in November 2005. He is a member of the Palm Beach Yacht Club, the New York Yacht Club and the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham-on-Crouch.
Mickey is pleased to offer Burnham Week his personal support, hoping that more entrants will be encouraged to get as much pleasure from their sailing as he has done.
